What's Ahead: the mountains are calling
I may no have had the Boston Marathon of my dreams, but one little dream of mine is coming true this summer and I.cannot.wait. For a very long time I've wanted to participate in the Mount Washington Road Race. In case you've never heard of it, it's the annual run up the Mount Washington Auto Road that takes you up 4500+ feet in elevation in 7.6 miles...in other words it's a BEAST.
I've wanted to do it a) because it's hard and baddass b) because my hubby and I met hiking Mt. Washington and reaching the summit is part of our summer ritual and pretty much the history of our family and c) #embracethehill.
Getting into Mt. Washington involves a lottery system, which I've had no luck in getting into in past years. But the Running Gods were in my favor and I have a spot on the mountain on June 18th. I'm beyond excited to give this hill my all.
Not to long after Mt. Washington I'll be heading to Loon Mountain Race to tackle another mountain race and the infamous "walking boss" (that part of the trail where everyone walks because its 40% grade). This year the Loon Mountain Race will be the USATF Mountain Running & Collegiate Mountain Running National Championships, so there will be some amazing runners on the mountain on July 3rd.

I'm excited to be doing something "different" with my running and cannot wait to tackle these mountain runs.
Have you ever run a mountain race?
