Friday Finds: a week in review

And just like that another week bites the dust. I feel like October just evaporated we were busy every weekend with events and travel. And here we are in the first week of November and there's just a few weeks before the Holidays. It feels like 2015 is coming screaming down the finish chute blazing towards the wire. Here are a few things that popped into my world this week that I thought you might enjoy:

Food isn't Fuel.

I mentioned in a previous post that I had started listening to more podcasts while running on the treadmill and one of them is the Precision Nutrition podcast. The one I listened to this week was from a while back and the topic of conversation was the idea of food as fuel. The PN host questioned the validity of this point of view and instead proposed food as information. It's a great podcast if you want to give it a listen (it's the September 20th podcast).

Runopedia.

What if you could find all the running blogs in one place? What if they were searchable by content? My friends a runopedia.com have done just that. They've sat down, collected and reviewed all the running blogs out there and put them in an online searchable directory. It's a great resource if you're looking to find new blogs to follow or are interested in specific content. And if you're a blogger you can apply to join the community.

Everything Does not Happen for a Reason.

I stumbled across this article from Upworthy.com while browsing Facebook and every part of it resonated with me. Sometimes life is filled with mistakes, with heartbreak, with really BIG grief. Platitudes like, "everything happens for a reasons" aren't helpful in fact they can be really dismissive of the emotions that someone is feeling in a difficult situation. The article is well worth a read if you're going through something difficult or if you have a friend who is struggling.

Hip and Glute Exercise Video.

My friend Jes over at runladylike.com just put out a great cross training video this week that highlights essential moves to strengthen the glutes and hips. Her video is packed with some really great moves that will help prevent injuries. Check it out. Watch it and then start including these physical therapy moves into your weekly routine.

Stroller Runs.

This past week we did a lot of triple stroller running because my husband was out of town. Pushing the triple is never easy, but it can be a whole lot of fun once we get going. I love listening to the kids conversations with each other and try to answer all their questions as huff and puff.

Can you believe it's November already? Do you look at food as fuel?
