All New Frozen Yogurt Pearls from Stonyfield
I received product to try from Stonyfield in exchange for a review. However, the opinions expressed in this post are my own.
There are few food companies that are looking for ways to innovate and evolve their product, usually once they have something that works they stick with it. But Stonyfield is not like that, in fact they received TIME magazine's award for the Top 25 Inventions of 2014. Driven by the vision of co-founder Gary Hirschberg to make Stonyfield a truly sustainable business, Stonyfield has come out with a new product that seeks to eliminate the packaging of their yogurt altogether. That's right, they want you to not only eat your yogurt, but also be able to eat the cup it came in.

At least that is the thrust behind the creation of the all new Frozen Yogurt Pearls from Stonyfield: scoops of Stonyfield's organic frozen yogurt surrounded by an edible fruit "skin." Stonyfield teamed up with WikiPearl to create an incredible product where you can eat the "packaging." While they still come in a package (the box is made from 100% renewable sugarcane) it is one step closer towards Hirshchberg's dream of sustainability.
Our family had a chance to try the pearls last week and it was only a matter of minutes before these delicious, bit size treats were gobbled up. Although I cut them up so we could each have a sampling of every flavor, the protective fruit skin means that there a no-mess snack: perfect for little toddler hands that like to hold on to things for a bit before they eat them.
I was a huge fan of the fact that they are the perfect size to satisfy your sweet tooth but are only 20 calories each. The fruit "skin" is flavorful and the soft and creamy frozen yogurt inside was equally delicious. And the flavor combinations were perfectly complimentary: Chocolate & Strawberry, Chocolate & Coconut, Vanilla & Peach and Vanilla & Strawberry.
We each had our favorites: the kids and I seemed to love the Chocolate & Coconut and my husband immediately confiscated the Vanilla & Peach for his own--and this is a guy who turns up his nose at frozen yogurt (Why eat that when you can have 'real' ice cream? he says:)
Currently Stonyfield's Frozen Yogurt Pearls are only available at Whole Foods Markets in the Northeast. You can use Stonyfield's product locator HERE to track down the closest store.
And here's a printable coupon to get two packages of Pearls for $6. Click HERE for coupon.
Have you tried the Pearls? What do you think? If not which flavor do you think you'd like to try?
