What Make You Want to Run with Saucony and Runner's Alley and Big Lake Half Marathon Winner
Last week I headed down to my local specialty running store, Runner's Alley in Portsmouth, NH for an event with Saucony. Saucony wanted to know: "What makes you want to run?"

Most everyone who showed up was also there to run with the group run that meets up at Runner's Alley every Thursday. They were bundled up to run through the blustery and snow filled streets of Portsmouth (it had snowed a few inches just a few hours before). It's funny how runners are all so dedicated to running, clearly they love it and are invested in it but when asked to articulate exactly why they run we are often stumped. Perhaps it is because there are too many reasons why we do it to condense into a simple phrase or maybe we've been doing it so long that all we can think about is the fact that it would be miserable NOT to run.
We penned our "why's" on white boards and posed for pictures, which Jon, the Saucony rep will put into a collage to feature at the store.
Runners also had the chance to try a selection of Saucony's new shoe offerings: the Triumph and the Hurricane. I had chance to try on the Triumph, which is a neutral cushioned shoe similar to the Ride (which I already wear) but has a slightly softer feel. Once I get back into logging more miles and am in need of another shoe I may just opt for this one, I really liked the soft feel and wide toebox.
After the runner's returned from their run (I opted out mostly because of the freshly fallen snow, super narrow roads in Portsmouth and the fact that my SI joint has been giving me grief...all I could picture was me falling flat on my back unable to get up like an overturned turtle) Jon drew names for a few Saucony goodies and one lucky runner went home with a new pair of Saucony shoes.
And of course before I left I had to check out the apparel and shoe selection at Runner's Alley: there's some super cute spring apparel already up in the store, which has me thinking of warmer weather and summer running!

I'm also excited to announce the winner of the FREE entry into the BIG LAKE HALF MARATHON.
Congratulations to Stacy!
I'll be contacting the winner via email.
