A Second Chance
One of the great things about running is that when you come off a disappointing run or race, redemption is just a foot step away. In most cases all you have to do is lace up those shoes and head out for another run or sign up for another race, beat down those doubts and do what you intended to do all along. I love that about running, there's always another opportunity. But life isn't necessarily like that. Sometimes we're faced with disappointments that don't necessarily come with second chances. I felt like that after the Women's Running Magazine Cover Model Contest. I was so honored and surprised to be chosen as a finalist. Then to find out I'd come so close (top three) without actually winning was a disappointment. I'm not gonna lie, I had my hopes up that I was the winner or at least close to the top (turn out I was right, just not in the way I'd hoped) so when I saw the email come through that I wasn't the winner my heart sank a bit. You don't get second chances on things like this...at least that's what I thought.
This weekend I got a few messages from friends: "Did you see? Runner's World is doing a Cover Model Contest and you should do it!!"
I was hesitant at first. Are people a little tired of hearing: "VOTE FOR ME!" ?
The more I thought about it the more I realized I really wanted to go for it. So I decided to enter the Runner's World Cover Model Contest. It's a second chance. I took a second chance last year after my disappointing finish at the CHaD HERO Half Marathon and I'm so glad I did. I was able to finish the fall season on a high note and without any regrets. In some ways I see this the same way: it's a second chance. A way for me to not have any regrets.
I'd love your vote (aaaa-gain;)
It takes a wee bit more time this time since Runner's World wants to make sure you're a real person by having you verify through Facebook or Twitter.
You can vote for me for the Runner's World Cover Model Contest by clicking HERE.
Do you believe in second chances? Or is this 'vote for me' thing getting annoying;)
