Life Lately: de-stressing and moving forward

Two weeks. We've been living in our new house for the past two weeks.

After over a year of being "displaced" and ten months of construction, we're finally in. The first night few nights we were here it didn't feel like a home at all, just a project we've been working on that we happened to be spending the night at.

But as we've gotten more things from storage, hung curtains, laid down rugs and brought in furniture things have started to feel like home.

We've still got a ways to go: the backsplash needs to get tiled in the kitchen, the master shower isn't finished yet and there's small wall in the mechanical room that needs some sheet rock, but for the most part the house is finished. Our storage unit is still half full, but we're pulling things out one truckload at a time and not getting another truckload until the previous one is put away and cleaned up. It's a slower process, but with three kids a much more manageable one-we're not living in a sea of boxes and stuff.

The rock around the fireplace is now finished and longer curtains that aren't ridiculously too short are on their way. LOL

Once everything is in I'm excited to share "final" pictures.

Running

I've felt like a weight has been lifted, my runs over the weekend and at the end of last week felt light, comfortable and easy. It's amazing what a toll stress can take on you, without you really even knowing it.

After Greylock, I've double down on the hip and glute strength and have been doing a daily routine of dynamic stretching and strengthening that takes about ten minutes. I noticed much more glute activation on my run this weekend, so I'm thinking that it is making a difference.

What's Next

This weekend I'll be running Reach the Beach! I was a last minute addition to the Turbocam Blade Runner Team (the company my Dad works for...and many friends as well). I'm runner #4 and get to run some of my favorite legs along that course!

The last time I did RTB I was 6 weeks pregnant, injured and on an ultra team-all things I'd never do again. So this year is going to be all about the fun and getting in some miles through my beautiful state of New Hampshire.

After that I'll head to the final mountain race of the season, the eight-mile Bretton Woods Fell Race. I've been studying up on this race as much as I can because Fell Racing involves check points and running un-marked sections of course. There's a good chance I could get lost if I don't put some time and effort into studying the course and the ins and outs of Fell Racing. I can picture it now, "Has anyone seen Sarah Canney? Did she get lost?" I get kind of inside my head during races, so I'll have to really pay attention.

CHaD HERO

After that I'll be heading up to the CHaD HERO event for the fifth year to participate in the CHaD HERO 5K, I was planning on doing the half marathon but opted to drop back to the 5K and make the day less about my racing and running goals and more about being with my family.

I'm fundraising again and hope to raise $1,000 before October 17, 2017. If you'd like to donate please head to my fundraising page HERE to give.

Now that we're in the house, I'm turning my attention to figuring out the details of our Rise.Run.Retreat Meet-Up Event the weekend of November 10-12, 2017! Although I am disappointed that Jesica and I won't be able to put on our full retreat this year, I am excited about how this event is shaping up and for all of those who have expressed interest in joining!

If you're interested in attending any or all of the events of the Rise.Run.Retreat. Meet-Up Weekend please fill out this Google Form so we can contact you with details!

It feels good to be back!
