Loving Lately: four favorites for spring

Of course right when I'm ready to start thinking about spring and warmer weather, the forecast shifts and we're supposed to get hit with a N'oreaster! It would be nice if the snow showed up when we needed it (like at the World Snowshoe Championships) and not when we're ready to shed all the winter running layers.

Once I get spring on my mind, it's really hard for me to go back to all those winter coats and jackets. Today I headed out in capris and a jean jacket...and then it started snowing. Looks like I jumped the gun a little, but cabin fever has a tendency to make you do some crazy things.

Here's what I'm loving lately...

Pukka Tea

The precious few times I get to the grocery store by.my.self I like to wander the isle a bit and look for new things. Our grocery store recently underwent a renovation and they completely re-arranged the store, which meant things that had been there all along suddenly seemed new! I found the Pukka Love tea and it's the perfect cup of tea in the afternoon. Paired with a bit of dark chocolate and it's a nice little "Mommy Time-Out."

Prana Lizbeth Capris

PrAna recently sent me a pair of the Lizbeth Capris, which are new for spring. I knew as soon as I slipped them on that they are going to be a go-to bottom for spring. The wide waistband is super flattering and I love the above the ankle length, which will be perfect once the weather warms up (or not if today is any indications;). The material is a hemp blend that has a little bit of stretch and is sustainably sourced and made--one of the things I love about prAna clothing. They are super comfortable and the coal color will pair well with pretty much any top. And prAna is offering 15% off their entire spring collection with code S4P17RFG at checkout.

I've been using this powder since January and I really think that it has positively impacted my ability to recover. I feel like I've put it to the test during snowshoe racing season when I was racing on both Saturday and Sunday for three weekends in a row. I really wasn't that sore (part of that is the lower impact of running on the snow) and haven't really had any nagging tightness. I mix the powder into my coffee in the morning and as long as I mix it into my first cup I really don't taste it. I drink my coffee black, so if I have a cup of coffee without first, then I can taste it when I put it in the second cup. I order mine on Amazon.

I've always loved Smartwool socks for running, but never really tried any of their apparel (besides sweaters) until this summer when I tested out some of their PhD Running line. They have some really great pieces for women and I'm a huge fan of these shorts. They recently sent me the latest version and I can see myself purchasing another pair. The fit is pretty perfect (similar to the Lululemon Speed Short), and they have a great light fabric and a wicking brief. I'm looking forward to logging some trail miles in these.
