Friday Finds: race jewelry, good reads and a great company

The best in running and health this week from RunFarGirl.com

With nearly four weeks off from running, I'm so ready to get back to regular training. Watching the NYC Marathon on Sunday was inspiring. While I don't feel the pull to go sign up for another marathon, it did bring back memories of my breakthrough race at Sugarloaf. There's a small tug there to go back to 26.2 a some point, to prove that I can run that distance and run it well.

Whether you have marathons on your mind or not, checkout these great finds that made their way onto my radar this week:

Fartlek Jewelry

I'm loving these race-inspired jewelry pieces that are made in Maine. The designer is a cancer survivor and her  jewelry features the course map of any marathon, triathlon or road race that has significance to you. She has many major marathons already in her shop, like NYC, Boston and Beach to Beacon or you can custom order any race or running route and have it turned into a pair of earrings, bracelet or necklace. She even has a charm bracelet where you can collect and add multiple races.

The Curse of the Good Girl

I've been reading The Curse of the Good Girl by Rachel Simmons, and I feel this is a must read for all mom's of daughters. It's not just a great read as a parent, but I'm finding that I am identifying with so much of the book as it talks about the curse of the good girl-the compulsion to please people, stay silent and not stand up for ourselves. I haven't made it all the way through yet, but I love that the book is tackling the difficult topic of raising authentic courageous girls.

#AMWriting Podcast

Sometimes you just need something that is "delightful." If you have writerly tendencies, then this podcast will be a true joy to you. Jess Lahey and KJ Dell'Antonia, talented writers and published authors, chat as two friends over coffee about all things writing related from pitching, to best practices, how to organize your tasks, and simply how to get your "butt in the chair" and write. Huge thanks to Christine from LoveLifeSurf.com who turned me onto this podcast.

Dr. Cool Headband and Veterans Donation

I had the chance to visit Dr. Cool Headquarters here in the seacoast of New Hampshire today and never have I been more happy to be aligned with a company. Dr. Cool is so incredibly generous and so committed to the running community, I am happy to be an ambassador for them and so excited for the direction that they are headed.
