Review: PowerBar Clean Whey Protein Bar
This blog post was created in partnership with PowerBar. The opinions expressed here are my own.Thirteen years ago, when I started running one of the first running related products I started using was the PowerBar. Friends would always complain about the texture, but somehow I loved the chewiness of the bars. My favorite flavor was Vanilla Crisp, and I remember purchasing them from the local grocery store across from my college dorm.
Responding to consumers demands for ‘cleaner’ nutrition, PowerBar has recently come out with Clean Whey Protein Bars. Packed with 20 grams of high quality whey protein, PowerBar is still delivering their high quality product but with more attention to the detail when it comes to creating a clean fuel source for athletes.

Subtly sweet
I had the chance to try their new bars recently, they sent me all three of their new flavors: Cookies and Cream, White Fudge Raspberry and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. I was eager to see how their flavor stacked up against some other popular protein bars. My personal preference is to eat something that isn’t particularly sweet tasting, I really dislike bars that have artificial sweeteners and the PowerBar Clean Whey Protein Bars have no artificial colors or sweeteners. These bars are also gluten free.
High in Protein
With 20 grams of protein the bars are a good choice if you’re looking replenish your body after a hard strength workout. The PowerBar Clean Whey Protein Bars were not overly sweet, which I appreciated. These bars are sweetened with Stevia and also contain erythritol, a sugar alcohol. My personal preference is to avoid sugar alcohols simply because they don’t settle well in my stomach, but if you don’t have issues with sugar alcohols the PowerBar Clean Whey Protein Bars may be a good choice for post-workout recovery.
