Why A Mountain Changed Everything
In my latest article for Women's Running Magazine, I share how I tried mountain running this summer and how it changed everything:
"This summer my running journey took a long anticipated turn…up a mountain. The mountains have always been part of my life; I grew up hiking in the White Mountains in New Hampshire. Later I would meet my husband there and together we’ve taken our kids hiking. Yet somehow this love of the mountains never coincided with my love of running, until this summer when I signed up for The Mount Washington Auto Road Race." Read more HERE.

I went on to run the Loon Mountain Race in July (you can read the recap of that race HERE) and will tackle my next mountain/trail run this weekend.

What's Next
I'm headed to the Jay Peak Trail Running Festival, which along with Loon was listed as one of the 15 Most Adventurous Trail Runs by the DailyBurn.com.
I know it will be hard. If there's anything I've learned in the two mountain races I've run it is to never underestimate the difficulty of the terrain and to never overestimate your ability to run strong. I feel like trail running and ultra running level the playing field so to speak, no matter how fast you are on the roads or what kind of PR's you hold the mountain is an entirely different beast and requires a different kind of grit.

Hopefully I'll be able to tap into some of that grit this weekend.
