I don't listen to music when I run, but I always carry my cell phone. For me it is a safety essential: my husband can track my progress on my long run or I can send him a quick text if I need to. But phones keep getting bigger and not all of my running apparel can accommodate my phone. Some of my favorite tights and shorts only have a small key pocket and couldn't possibly hold my iPhone 6. Sometimes I'll stuff it in my bra or strategically pair a jacket that has pockets with tights that don't have any. But a lot of times that's not my favorite option. Recently, the Wonderful Things Factory sent me their Slim Clip Case for my iPhone to test out and I haven't taken it off my phone since.

When I first saw their promo video, I wasn't sure if the case would actually work the way that it was advertised. But after a ten mile test run I was convinced that the case will do exactly what it supposed to: stay put during rigorous activity.

The Slim Clip Case slides onto the waistband of your tights, shorts or capris and can carry your phone without slipping or falling off. During my 10 mile run I wore the case on the back of my tights for the first five miles and then wore it on the side for the second five miles. Here are some of the pros and cons of the case:

  • Stays put. The phone didn't jostle around, slide or slip. The clip kept it firmly in place on my waistband and it was easy to take on and off.

  • While you can wear the phone case on the back, I noticed that it cause my tights to slip down a bit. This wouldn't be a problem if the tights I was wearing had drawstring. Once I moved the phone to the side my tights stopped slipping and I forgot that the phone was even there.

  • While the case stays put I did notice that it didn't work as well with loose or baggy shorts because the phone and case tend to be heavy, but it is great for tights or tight shorts.

  • The only con to the case is that the buttons on the side of the iPhone become hard to access. This is probably more of a personal preference, since the case I usually has silicone that covers the buttons.

  • I tested the case on three runs and continue to use it daily, but I wonder if the clip part might potentially wear out and break over time from pulling it back to clip it onto the waistband. It's something that only time and repeated use will determine.

  • The case is a on the pricey side at $40, but if you want to skip the utility belt it is a good option.

I'm really pleased with the case and it has allowed me to wear some running gear I haven't worn in a long time. I like that I'm not limited to pieces that have designated pockets big enough for my phone. I like the case a lot which is why I'm excited to be giving one away to one lucky reader.
