THULE Urban Glide 2 Running Stroller Review
Disclosure: Thule has sponsored this post and provided the Urban Glide 2 for review, however all the opinions expressed here are my own.
In three weeks, my daughter Sophia turns six. Six! I call her my "original running partner" because she's been there since the beginning, riding along on my runs since she was big enough to sit in the stroller. And in six years of stroller running she's sat in three different strollers. Though she still fits in our triple and is happy to ride along, we recently ventured out with our new Thule (pronounced too-lee) Urban Glide 2 a lightweight double jogging stroller, the boys in the stroller and Sophia by my side on her bike. The afternoon was an experience of firsts: her first time riding along while I ran and my first time pushing such a lightweight stroller.
The Thule Urban Glide 2 isn't just a sleek looking stroller, it is incredibly sleek feeling as you push it along. We've had at the chance to really test it out on a few runs, and here are my thoughts:
Construction
The stroller is constructed of a extremely lightweight aluminum frame with some plastic parts around the wheels and break. The padded seat and visor are a durable, water-resistant fabric which is carried down to the covered cargo basket. Each seat has a five-point harness with a secure buckle that requires two hands to open. The Thule Urban Glide 2 folds with one hand and stows easily into the back of our Honda CRV with plenty of room left for a bike (and random baby gear).
Here are the specs according to THULE.com:
Ride
The stroller is incredibly easy to push and the ride is so smooth. Our first run I kept thinking: I want to race with this! I literally felt like it would fly if I were to run with it in a race.
Features
There are some really great features to this stroller. I share my favorite ones in the video below:

Drawbacks
There are a few drawbacks to the stroller that are really pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. At first I thought that the break was really stiff and it is. But the more I use the stroller the more I appreciate that it takes some effort to both lock and unlock it. You know for certain that it is locked when it clicks down. The other drawback is that there is no way to secure the stroller in the folded position. With my other jogging strollers I used the velcro of the safety leash wrapped on itself to keep the stroller folded when lifting it in and out to the car. Because the safety lead on this is shorter and lacks velcro there is no way to keep the stroller closed in the folded position. This is what I had originally thought but then realized that the stroller does in fact have a rubber tab that serves as a latch to keep it folded.
Price
The Urban Glide 2 Retails for $649.50 which is similar to other double jogging strollers of the same quality.
Overall
I've long been loyal the the BOB brand of strollers and really believed they were the best, but Thule's Urban Glide 2 has seriously altered that opinion. Not only is the Urban Glide 2 much, much lighter than my BOB Duallie stroller, but it is easier to fold, is more compact when folded and simply looks sleeker. I'll always have a soft place in my heart for my first running stroller because of the memories, but this guy is quickly becoming my favorite.
