KEEN-Wow! Essential Living Food's Quinoa Bars Review and Giveaway (plus a free gift for everyone!)

Disclaimer: this post is sponsored by Essential Living Foods, who supplied samples for me to try. However the opinions expressed in this post are mine. When it comes to the food I choose to fuel my body and my family, I try to choose minimally processed, whole foods with simple ingredients. That's why I was eager to try Essential Living's snack offerings. It was a company I'd never heard of, but after reading a little bit about their mission: to work with small, sustainable farms to deliver organic, nonGMO, high quality products, I wanted to give them a try.

They sent me a wide selection of their snacks but what I was most eager to try was their KEEN-WAH Decadence Cayenne Bar. I'm kind of a fan of the spicy and sweet combo, so the idea of a cinnamon/cayenne spice enfused bar covered in dark choclate sounded perfectly satisfying. At first I was expecting the quinoa to be crispy but all the KEEN-WAH energy bars are soft and chewy. I also thought the bar would have a bit of a spicy kick, but the spice level was very mild. Mild enough that Sophia, my five year old daughter, gobbled up two of the KEEN-WAH Cayenne Bars before I had a chance to have a second! With a 198 calories and 5 grams of protien, and a coating of dark chocolate the bar is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up snack. The soft quinoa and spice blend of the cinnamon and cayenne make for a delicious combo. The bars are also gluten free, which makes it a great choice for sensitive stomachs.

And the other bars were just as good, especially the KEEN-WAH Glow bar. The Tumeric, Goldenberry and Pecan flavor was nutty, spicy and delicious. I didn't share those ones.

We also had a sampling of their trail mixes: Superfood and Machu Piccu Mix all of which were chock-full of berries and nuts beyond your standard peanut-raisin mix. Superfood had goji berries, caco nibs and brazil nuts and the Machu Piccu Mix featured caco beans, maca chunks and goldenberries. My two year old, Jack seemed to be a fan of the snack mixes, picking out all the dried berries. The KEEN-WAH energy bars are definitely something I would order again, the flavors were really exceptional and I like the fact that they are organic, nonGMO and gluten free.
