Day 2: BioSkin $20 Gift Certificate Giveaway
I was recently sent a pair of BioSkin calf sleeves to review. I wasn't very familiar with BioSkins and since I've had issues with tendonitis in my calf I was eager to try the sleeves and compare them to my experience with ProCompression calf sleeves which I've been wearing for quite some time. BioSkin makes a wide variety of compression gear and braces for a variety of injures: back, ankle, knee and more. Thankfully I've never had to purchase a brace for an injury, but I am a fan of compression gear for recovery and occasionally during activity.

I had a chance to give them a go on a few treadmill runs and was really happy with how compressive they were. After running just over seven miles last weekend (the longest I've run since Reach the Beach) I found that my calves were tight and the spot where I've dealt with popliteal tendonitis was a bit sore. It was the perfect time to try them out. Based on my calf measurements the rep from BioSkin suggest a Large, and they seemed to be the perfect fit. They were more compressive than my ProCompression calf sleeves, which was nice and seemed to help my tight calves.

For the most part they were comfortable on my run, despite the fabric not being as soft and pliable as other sleeves I have. They do have a seam in the back, which irritated me a little, mostly where the tag was placed on the inside. If they were seamless I think they would be far more comfortable. I also noticed that my calves were incredibly sweaty. Although the fabric is supposed to be breathable I found it to be less breathable than other sleeves I own.

I think these sleeves would be perfect for recovery, to wear after a big race or hard effort. I'm not sure I'd wear them during activity again because they weren't as comfortable as I'd like. But they would be the perfect type of sleeve to wear after, since they are so compressive.
