Friday Finds: 4 Great Finds from this Week
This past week I came across a few things I thought were worth sharing. And so a little Friday Finds post for you.1.I Can't Understand When You're Whining:I loved Christina post this week, her honesty about the difficulty of parenting. Because when we are honest with ourselves it is incredibly difficult and there are aspects of it that drive us up a wall and push us to the edge of our ability to be patient. I don't often read parenting books, usually I rely on second hand knowledge from my husband who is working on a Masters degree in Marriage and Family therapy and is reading all kinds of parenting and child psychology. Her post reminded me that I need to do a little reading of my own. 2. The Gift of Resentment:I came across this article on one of the homeschooling blogs I read frequently and found a quote that absolutely rings true for me in all things: "persistent negative emotions are like lanterns. They shed light on what’s not working, on things that need to change, on the ways we’re feeling trapped and afraid. They prod us to be honest." I think so often, in all aspects of life, we dismiss negative feelings because they are "wrong" but often times when you pursue the source of the negative emotion it can lead to real insight into things that need to change. The author was speaking of it in terms of letting go of a task that seems beneficial but she just couldn't shake the resentment she felt for it. Leaning into that resentment led her to a new conclusion that ultimately brought her freedom and peace.
3. Merrell Balaclava Top: I don't normally shop at Merrell. I think of them as a hiking shoe company, but I was recently given a gift card and so I headed over to their website and came across some really great items. Like this top which has a built in balaclava and hood that make it perfect for running. I ended up settling on a cute little dress that I wore yesterday and absolutely love.
4. Felxitarian Filly. I stumbled across Susie via the Altra website. She's an Altra ambassador, but more impressively she just ran 2:42:35 to qualify her for the Olympic Marathon Trials. She talks about her qualifying marathon mile by mile in this post and I love the insights she gives into her thoughts during the race. She has some really great posts on her return to running postpartum and her training which you can find here. I look forward to following her training and journey.
What did you discover this week? What's new-to-you that you think is worth sharing?
