Track with a Friend
Yesterday, my sister-in-law Danielle and I went to track practice together. She's visiting from Singapore and it was a perfect opportunity for her to get in her first post-baby track workout and for me to get in a few miles too.
The workout was two rounds of 8x200m with a 200m jog recovery between each for a total of 4 miles, a challenge for sure. I knew I'd be able to get in about 6x200m to everyone else's 8. So I settled into a comfortable, but slightly pushing it 8:00 min/mile pace. My first round 200 m splits were:
1st 200m in :57
2nd in :58
3rd in 1:00
4th in 1:00
5th in 1:01
6th in 1:00
I felt good for each lap and was pleased at my consistent spit times. When I started the second round I felt tired and knew from the get-go that I wouldn't be able to do six so I settled for four. Some of which were pretty uncomfortable, not because I was winded, but because at 27 weeks pregnant, my belly is starting to get big enough that it feels like its in the way. My second round splits were:
1st 200m in 1:02
2nd in 1:03
3rd in 1:06
4th in 1:03
It was nice to see a familiar friend running around the track with me. It's been while since we've run together and even though we didn't exactly run "together" it was still a good time. I could say "hi" each time she lapped me:-)
After track we rejoined our husbands and babies (well mine isn't a baby so much any more) back at home for a delicious grilled steak dinner thanks to my husband. Yum!
