Two Week Countdown

I made it ten miles yesterday morning, and they felt remarkably better than the last long run I did. As a result I'm feeling slightly more confident about the half-marathon, but still have some reservations since I know that I won't be able to run thirteen miles before the race. I felt strong enough today to make it thirteen but didn't have the time; Sophie had to eat.

I've read that you should think of a half-marathon as a ten miles run and a 5K. That will be my mental approach on race day. My hope is that even though I haven't run thirteen, my body will respond to my mind telling it to run three more, and I'll finish with an OK time (preferably under the two hour mark).

With two weeks left 'till the race, it seems that imperative that I stick to my training plan; it will be easier this week considering the fact that I will not be working 42 hours (and hopefully never will again). I sat down with my calendar this morning and mapped out the remaining days to the half:

Today: Run 2-3 miles

4/27: Hills with Sophia in the BOB

4/28: 4-6 with Sophia in the BOB

4/29: Speed drills

4/30: 3-4 with Sophia in the BOB

5/1: 8 miles

5/2: REST

5/3: Hills with Sophia in the BOB

5/4: 4-6 miles

5/5: 2-3 miles with Sophia

5/6: 3-4 miles

5/7: REST

5/8: RACE DAY!!

Luckily Sophia has returned to her relatively new habit of sleeping through the night 10 to 12 hours, which was momentarily disrupted last week due to my insane work schedule. Sleep is good. Sleep means I feel stronger and faster, and that is also good. Maybe the extra sleep I've been getting will be enough to push me over the two hour threshold. Right now I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping so.
