Spring!

I haven't run since my 10 miles on Monday. I took Tuesday off, did cross-training on Wednesday and went for a walk yesterday. I was supposed to do hills yesterday, but I just didn't have the energy. Chalk it up to all the missed sleep. So my mom, Sophia and I (and BOB) went for a walk around my parent's neighborhood. I wore shorts and a t-shirt and believe it or not worked up a sweat. It was THAT warm.

Yesterday was gorgeous: blue sky, warm air, white and purple crocuses popping up in gardens, green grass pushing through the brown dead stuff from the fall, and on the trees and bushes you could see little green buds ready to unfold. One of the things that I missed when we lived in Arizona was the changing of the seasons. Last year, our first year back in New Hampshire, I was most amazed by the arrival of spring. During April and May I couldn't believe the thousands of shades of green that seemed to appear newly each morning on my drive to work. Everything was fresh and alive. Such a contrast to the thousands of shades of brown that dominate the landscape of the Arizona desert. Living in such a monochromatic environment (I mean even the houses are brown. ALL the houses.) you become more sensitive to color. Last year seemed like a feast for my dulled senses. I'm looking forward to the transition to summer even more this year because a) I'm NOT in the early stages of pregnancy and b) Sophia and I get to discover the world outside together.
