PWR

Race day is tomorrow, so I won't be running today. When I do race on Saturday I will be well rested. Sophia has had three really good nights of uninterrupted sleep! We may have stopped "regressing" and are now making forward progress, which means I feel energized and refreshed. Sigh (of relief).

My goal is to run 7:30 minute miles, the same goal I had for the four miler I did three weeks ago (in which I ran 8:20 minute miles). I'm not sure I'll be able to shave a whole 50 seconds off my mile time, but I sure as heck am going to try. My Speed workouts have not been very consistent in the last few weeks, which makes me think that running fast on race day is gonna hurt. I mean it always hurts, but it might hurt more. I'm hopeful though, it is after all three miles instead of four. Maybe the added rest and running will the stroller's resistance will prove a worthy substitute for the speed I've been missing out on.

Either way running Saturday's race will at least be a step in the direction of eventually hitting my goal pace and preparing me for the half marathon, which is now six weeks away (!!). With all the 5K's I signed up for, I only have three weekends left to do my long runs. Between now and then I have to run a 10 miler, 12 miler and then have a weekend to taper and run six (the other two weekends I'll be running races). I'm hoping I can squeeze these long runs in with how busy we've been lately. But I'm not sure it is going to happen.

Long runs take time. When I ran 8 miles, it took me a little less than an hour and twenty minutes. It worked out OK cause I fed Sophia right before I left. Anything longer than that and I run in to problems. Mostly problems surrounding in the chestal region. If i can't feed Sophia or pump right before I go, then well, you can imagine how uncomfortable THAT is. Well, at least you ladies can imagine how uncomfortable that is. And even if I do feed her before I go, the longer I'm out there, like say closer to two hours, the more uncomfortable it becomes.

I have a little water bottle belt pack that I've used when training for marathons. It straps around your waist and has multiple little four ounce bottles that attach to the side, plus a little pocket. I suppose I could bring my manual pump on my longer runs. Then again, that might not be a good idea; some cop might pull me over for PWR (Pumping While Running). And I imagine it would slow me down.
