Option A: Slightly Miserable vs. Option B: Immensely Miserable

I was supposed to run 8-10 miles this weekend as part of my training for the half marathon in May. I knew I wouldn't have time on Saturday so I figured I'd do it Sunday morning. If I had known the weather would be so bad on Sunday, I would have made time to run on Saturday--I very rarely look at the weather report, and if I do it is usually to find out if what I see outside my window will persist. I did finally look at the weather report on Sunday (after looking out my window) to find out what Monday was supposed to look like. And I can tell you, from looking out my window now, that it is the same as Sunday: rainy (maybe not quite as heavy) and windy (maybe not quite as brisk). Not really ideal conditions for an 8-10 mile run (who am I kidding! if I DO get out and run it will be an eight mile run).

So I have two options today: A) suck it up and go run outside (slightly miserable) or B) go to the gym and run on the treadmill (immensely miserable). Both have their drawbacks: if I run outside I will probably be wet and cold, and if I run on the treadmill for an hour and twenty minutes I will probably want to shoot myself. Right now I'm leaning towards running outside.

I mean how bad can it be? Yes, I will be wet but I will eventually dry off when I get home. Yes, I will be cold, but I can always take a long hot shower. If I run inside, I'll get sucked into watching bad TV, things like "Judge Alex" or infomercials for that stupid swiffery-vacuum thingy. I'll peek under the towel covering the treadmill's digital display to find out that in the time that I thought I had run a mile, I really only ran a half-mile.

And then there's that third option that I haven't mentioned because it's not really an option (at least I don't want it to be). I'm not going to even write it. If I do I might choose THAT option instead of one of the other ones.
